About Community Cinema
Hands On Ogeechee
has partnered with ITVS,
the Independent Television Service,
to produce Community Cinema
in Southeast Georgia. ITVS's
flagship monthly series presents free socially conscious film screenings
in communities from coast to coast. Each month, Community
Cinema screenings offer special sneak previews of
films scheduled for upcoming broadcast on the Emmy Award-winning
PBS series Independent
Lens. All Community
Cinema screenings feature panel discussions with
leading community-based organizations, special guest speakers, information
and resources, and other programming designed to help people learn
about and get involved in some of today's key social issues.
Screening participants will have the opportunity to
see the films prior to the national air dates and engage with local
leaders, nonprofits, and peers who have similar interests and passions.
ITVS Community is
currently producing monthly screenings in collaboration with partner
organizations and local public television stations in over 20 markets
nationwide.
