The first Main Street Farmers' Market will take place
from 9am-2pm in the Sea Island Bank parking lot in downtown Statesboro
and will run concurrently with the 2nd Annual Celebration South
Music Festival. This year there will be a Car Show, Fashion Show,
BBQ Cookoff and People's Choice Contest, Kiddie Coral, and feature
a performance from the winner of GSU Idol and a Step Show in addition
to several great musical acts lasting until 10PM.
Volunteers are needed to help distribute information
about the event throughout the week, assist with setup on the day
of the event, and staff the various activities. Shifts start as
early as 7am on Saturday and go as late as midnight.
HOO
Book Drive

Just in time for Earth Day, HOO is kicking off it's
first Book Recycling Drive of the year. Volunteers are needed to
help pack, lift, transport, unpack, separate, sort, and catalog
donated books which will be redistributed to literacy programs,
sold for revenue or recycled.

Agency: American Cancer Society
The annual Relay for Life walks are happening throughout
the region. The Bulloch County office of the American Cancer Society
manages the 12-hour long events in 11 counties in Southeast Georgia.
In preparation for the Bulloch County Relay, the ACS needs volunteers
to help in the office with assembling information packets, folding
t-shirts, and other office work like answering phones. Contact Delinda

Agency: Prevent Child Abuse Bulloch County
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Every year,
to raise awareness of the problem of child abuse in Bulloch County,
PCABC places pinwheels into the ground on the lawn of the Bulloch
County courthouse.
Each pinwheel represents one reported case of child
abuse in Bulloch County during the previous State Fiscal Year. Volunteers
are needed to help setup the Picnic for Prevention, serve food,
and assist with clean-up.
Great
American Cleanup Week

Agency: Keep Bulloch Beautiful
The Great American Cleanup is an annual event held
in over 15,000 communities across the country. Started in 1999,
the Great American Cleanup brings community members together each
spring to cleanup roadways, neighborhoods and rivers, improve buildings
and structures, and landscape natural areas. Everyone in Bulloch
County is encouraged to participate in the Great American Cleanup
each spring. Teams typically consist of families, neighbors, friends,
co-workers, church groups, volunteer organizations and others and
can range in size from two people to fifty. Projects can be selected
by the team or from a list of priority projects identified by Keep
Bulloch Beautiful. Each team is provided with the tools and materials
they need to complete their project. In addition, Keep Bulloch Beautiful
gives every volunteer a Great American Cleanup t-shirt and other
free goodies.
Keep Bulloch Beautiful has expanded the Great American
Cleanup to an entire week this year to support the many great community
activities on the calendar. Mark your calendars for April 19-26.
