The Power of Youth Serving Youth
April 25-27, 2008
The purpose of National Youth Service Day
is to empower young people, highlighting their ongoing
contributions to their communities and mobilizing their energy,
commitment, and idealism through sustainable service.
Millions of youth participate in Global Youth
Service Day, the largest service event in the world. They
tutor young children, engage in disaster relief, register new voters,
educate their communities about good nutrition, distribute HIV/AIDs
prevention materials and meet many more community needs through
their service. Global Youth Service Day supports
youth on a life-long path of service and civic engagement, and educates
the public, the media, and elected officials about the role of youth
as community leaders.
In celebrating National Volunteer
Week, Hands On Ogeechee will observe Youth Service
Day by partnering with Habitat for Humanity of
Bulloch County and other organizations in the area to lead
youth in service to our community on Saturday, April 26th.
Details will be available on this site in the near future.
To sign-up to participate, email volunteer [ at
